History
The Franciscan of Our Lady of Grace is a Clerical Society of men who desire to live the Franciscan life in a traditional setting. This new community is located in San Gabriel California under His Eminence Sherman Randall Pius Mosley,D.D. of the Traditional Roman Catholic Church, its Bishop Guardian. This community was founded by his Eminence after he was made Metropolitan Archbishop in 2010 our first candidate who desired to live the Franciscan rule was one of our diocesan priest Father Stephen Gregory. Father Stephen Gregory took his first vows on September 28, 2011 after going through a long period of formation and consultation under Monsignor Layne Jackson a former Franciscan. He is now the appointed Superior of the community.
Primary Residence
The primary residence of the Friars Oratory at this time is located in San Gabriel California.
Reception of Candidates
All candidates must go through a period of formation in the Franciscan Community. If any friar discerns that he wants to be a priest he must have taken first vows before being considered for Holy Orders.
The Apostolate
The Friars apostolate is to communicate the Traditional Roman Catholic Church as is understood by us prior to the Second Vatican Council and to preserve the true immemorial mass of the ages, the mass of St Pius V. The friars are called to spread the gospel, of Jesus Christ through means of apostolic life and corporal works of mercy. They are: Nursing Home Ministry, Hospital Chaplaincy, and Prison Ministry, Feeding the hungry and clothing the poor. The friars are also called to teach the traditional catholic faith and help build up our missions and parishes.
